The LSC pays particular attention to some important phenomena and processes occurring at a global level, and which involve not only individual countries but also transnational actors such as the European Union at a governance level. The studies carried out by the LSC in this field firstly concern international cooperation and skilled migrants, in relation to cohesion and the development of both the host society and the one of origin. Another key theme dealt with by the LSC in this field and which the LSC will work on in the coming months, within the 7th FrameworkProgramme of the European Union, is that of support to the dialogue on scientific and technological research in emerging and developing countries, from the point of view of the scientific responsibility and ethics of science. A further theme is that of knowledge management for development, which was the object of action-research in Brazil.
