On June 1 and 2, 2017, in Sofia the "Mapping Conference on the future of IPR” took place. The Mapping Conference, addressed experts and stakeholders to deal with the deficiencies and shortcomings of the current IPR protection in the EU and worldwide and to discuss possible remedies that would achieve better synchronisation between the UE IPR protection regime and the technological and socio-cultural realities of the digital world. Also alternative business models of economic exploitation of IPR; and universal prospects of IPR such as Open Innovation and Open Knowledge were debated.
