Folder   CONCLUSION OF THE MILESECURE–2050 PROJECT

MILESECURE-2050 project (“Multidimensional Impact of the Low-Carbon European Strategy on Energy Security, and Socio-Economic Dimension perspective up to 2050”) ended in December. The project was funded under the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union and was carried out by a consortium of 11 partners from 8 different European countries, coordinated by Politecnico of Turin.
Through the use of innovative models, the project developed and tested energy scenarios for Europe at 2050 based on multi-dimensional analysis of the current economic, social, geopolitical environment and lifestyle trends. Furthermore, the scenarios sketch a transition toward a low carbon society that takes into account European energy security requirements.
In this framework Laboratory of Citizenship Sciences has dealt with the analysis of over 90 Anticipatory Experiences of the low-carbon society. The analysis has highlighted the key role of the human factor in the change of energy systems.
Other relevant outcomes of the project were a Manifesto for the governance of the energy transition entitled “Secure and low-carbon Energy is citizens’ energy” and Guidelines and recommendations for European policies based on the research outcomes .
During the three years of the project an intensive scientific dissemination and dialogue activity was carried out. Among other things, two international seminars were held: the first in Rome in February 2015 and the second in Brussels in December 2015. Furthermore the project results, were presented at the International Conference on Sustainable Built Environment - SBE 16 - which took place in Turin last 18 and 19 February.
