Folder   "Surveilling surveillance" Workshop of SMART project in Florence (25–26 September 2012)
 

"Surveilling surveillance" is the title of the first Policy Workshop of the SMART project (Scalable Measures for Automated Recognition Technologies), held in Florence on 25 and 26 September 2012, at the Aula Magna of the University Rectorate. The workshop was centered by the latest developments in the so-called "smart" surveillance, the one that has at its center the automated recognition of individuals and/or pre-determined traits or risk factors/criteria. The program included a series of sessions devoted to the context of smart surveillance and its juridical, sociological and technological aspects, and was attended by scholars and experts from Europe, America and Australia. Daniele Mezzana participated on behalf of LSC, with a paper on "The new context of surveillance: social regimes, emergence of human subjectivity and control technologies", in collaboration with Marija Krlic (University of Sheffield).

The following two days the steering committees of projects RESPECT and SMART were held in Florence (at the CNR / ITTIG), aimed at planning the forthcoming activities, with the participation of Claudia Colonnello and Daniele Mezzana on behalf of LSC.
