PE2020 – PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT INNOVATIONS FOR HORIZON 2020

PE2020 (Public Engagement Innovations for Horizon 2020) is a project funded under the FP7 of European Union (Workprogramme Science in Society) and coordinated by the University of Helsinki. The project aims to identify and analyze the tools of public engagement in science and technology, in order to generate new knowledge about their actual functioning, including their most critical aspects as well as to facilitate their transfer.

To this end, PE2020 provides for the development of a conceptual model to interpret the dynamics associated with public engagement, to develop an inventory of the most innovative tools of public engagement and to conduct some pilot projects to test directly what happens when participatory processes in science and technology are activated.

The knowledge gained will provide the basis for the development of a Web-based toolkit geared to support the transfer of the practice of public engagement in Europe.

The project started in February 2014 and will end in January 2017.
